Blur or pixelate part of a photo or screenshot

Before posting a screenshot or attaching a photo to a support request, you may need to hide a name, address, face or other visible detail. Image Masker lets you mark just the area you want to change. Choose Rectangle for a text field or Brush for an irregular area, select Blur, Pixelate or Black cover, then mark the area.

How to hide details in an image

  1. Open, drop or paste one image into the editor.
  2. Select Brush or Rectangle and choose Blur, Pixelate or Black. Mark each area that should be changed. Use Undo or Redo to correct a selection.
  3. Review the result at different zoom levels and download it in High quality or Optimized WebP. The output retains the image's original pixel dimensions.

Blur, pixelate and solid cover are not the same

Blur softens an area; Pixelate turns details into larger blocks; Black fully covers the selected visible pixels in the output. Blur and pixelation are visual effects, not reliable removal of confidential data. For passwords, access tokens and other secrets, use a solid cover and inspect the downloaded result; do not treat the tool as a certified secure-redaction system.

High quality or smaller WebP

High quality keeps the original pixel dimensions and uses lossless PNG or a high-quality JPG/WebP encode where appropriate. Optimized keeps the same dimensions but uses balanced WebP compression to reduce file size with a small quality tradeoff.

For a different file format, use Image Converter. For web-ready resizing and compression, use Image Optimizer.

Common questions

Can I blur only a name or part of a screenshot?

Yes. Choose Rectangle for a box-like region or Brush for an irregular area. Other parts of the image remain visible.

Does the masking tool change image dimensions?

No. The exported file retains the original pixel dimensions. The Optimized option changes the output to WebP with lossy compression.

Is blur safe for passwords or API keys?

Do not rely on blur or pixelation to protect secrets. A solid Black cover is the more appropriate option for fully covering visible information; check the final export before sharing.

Are image files uploaded?

No. Image selection, edits and export run in the browser.

Can I use both a brush and rectangles on the same image?

Yes. Switch between Brush and Rectangle at any time. Each completed mask is added to the same undo and redo history.
